Well, "tis the season". The holiday frenzy has begun. Commercials have been bombarding us now for weeks peddling everything from ribbon-wrapped cars, to 40 bazillion inch televisions to Chia Pets. Crayola's commercial chides us "to give everything imagineable".
Perhaps memories of a Christmas past may linger in the recesses of our hearts, or perhaps a past special gift comes to mind. Sweet memories. Yet, what we so often remember most are the special times with those we love.
So why not give the gift of time? Get creative. Buy and wrap a ball of yarn with needles, and commit to taking knitting lessons together, or wrap a special baking tool and schedule a cake decorating class for two, a la "Mommy and Me".
Kids, and even adults cherish time spent together. So, find those opportunities for shared time and commit to them as your gift. Purchase and wrap a few yards of kids novelty fabric and help your child learn to sew and make their own special pillowcase. Many online sites offer free instructions.
Local hardware stores offer crafty DIY seminars. Purchase a small toolbox as the gift and tuck the seminar materials inside. Maybe consider pottery, plate-painting , dance, golf lessons or even wine or beer making classes to share.
Take a moment and consider the interests of your loved ones, get creative, choose a gift which will integrate time with you as part of the surpise so you both can experience a wonderful adventure together. With a bit of thought you will make memories that you both will cherish always.
Blessings to you this holiday season.
